Highway Patrolman - Johnny Cash
I wanted to follow up my Springsteen reblog with this reworking by the man in black. Once again Cash displays his impeccable abilities as an interpreter.
I’m going to re-reblog this because I’m pretty sure I mentioned last week that I’m in the middle of reading Johnny Cash’s autobiography. Well this cover makes a lot more sense after seeing Johnny quote one of my favorite lines in this song (“Nothing feels better than blood on blood”) in his autobiography. Apparently he was a fan. :)
The page before he quotes this song he talks about being a Dylan fan and he mentions that The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan is not only his favorite Dylan album but also one of his favorite albums of all time. I had a bit of a music geek-out over those two pages. So not only do we (Mr. Cash and I) share a favorite Dylan album* but on the next page he quotes one of my favorite Springsteen songs.
It was a good moment in the life of a music geek.
